The scenic setting for the Island Breeze Luau is the lush lawn of the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Resort. Situated on the historic grounds of Ahu'ena, the estate once belonging to King Kamehameha the Great, the luau is conveniently close to other notable landmarks such as Hulihe'e Palace and the Mokuaikaua Church, all within easy walking distance. The Island Breeze Luau pays homage to this historical connection by integrating a deeper dive into Hawaiian heritage into their performances and presentations, offering a richer experience compared to other luaus.

Island Breeze Luau is held at one of the most important historical sites in all of Hawaii. This is where Kamehameha I lived out the remaining years of his life and instituted some of the most constructive measures of his reign. In addition to their cultural and historical significance, the luau grounds offer breathtaking views of Kamakahonu Bay, Mount Hualalai, and the twinkling lights of Kona. Upon arrival, receive a heartfelt greeting followed by the opportunity to unwind with live Hawaiian music and refreshing tropical beverages from the open bar as you explore the array of entertainment and activities offered at the luau grounds. Engage in a group hula tutorial, partake in various games, adorn yourself with temporary Polynesian tattoos, and witness an exciting fire-knife demonstration up close, featuring a scaled-down version of the traditional tool. Feel free to explore the on-site imu, the authentic Hawaiian underground oven, or simply unwind and soak in the surroundings—it’s your choice!
However, the evening transforms dramatically as King Kamehameha I and his esteemed royal entourage make a grand arrival by water. As the royal court arrives, they are welcomed by the sound of a conch shell announcement, accompanied by traditional Hawaiian chants and the illumination of tiki torches, leading them to the stage. The royal procession holds special significance due to the historical importance of the luau grounds, making it a truly distinctive and memorable occasion. Dinner service begins following the procession.
At Island Breeze Luau, indulge in a sumptuous buffet showcasing a variety of traditional Hawaiian delicacies including Kalua pork, poi, and haupia, alongside popular favorites such as macaroni salad, poke, and Kona-style BBQ chicken. The evening spectacle, He ‘Ohana Kakou (“We are Family”), a Polynesian revue that highlights the vibrant music, dance, and traditions from Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, ends with an exhilarating Samoan fire-knife dance performance to conclude the night. - You'll find the Island Breeze Luau reservation desk situated in the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Vouchers must be turned in for lū’au tickets at the luau desk. Guests must have tickets to be admitted to the luau.
- There is ample parking at the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Validation is given at the luau check-in desk.
Getting There
The Island Breeze Luau is centrally located between the Kohala Coast resort area, to the north, and the resorts located at Keauhou Bay, to the south. It takes approximately 30-35 minutes to get to Island Breeze from Kohala/Waikoloa and about 20 minutes from the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. Island Breeze Luau does not provide a shuttle service, so you will have to provide your own transportation. Parking is available onsite and the hotel will validate your parking (ask at the luau check-in desk).

Inclement Weather: The show may continue if there are light, passing showers. Checking the forecast and bringing along rain protection (if needed) is highly recommended. Island Breeze Luau reserves the right to cancel or modify the show at any time for weather or safety-related issues.
You will receive a full refund if we are unable to confirm your booking. A full refund will be given if the luau is canceled by Island Breeze Luau. There is no service charge for any cancellation of a confirmed booking outside of 48 hours of the check-in time. There is no refund for cancellations made less than 48 hours. 7 days notice is required for parties of 8 or more. You are welcome to change the date or time of your booking free of charge if there is an opening on another day and it is outside of the change or cancellation policy. You understand that it is your responsibility to review the voucher and to contact us if any information is incorrect / to make any changes.
