Presenting Oahu’s newest luau, Na Lei Aloha! Enjoy a night of live Hawaiian music, hula, and storytelling as you learn about the art of lei making and the rich cultural history behind the tradition.

The Na Lei Aloha Luau is a partnership between the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement. It is the only luau of its kind in the area, featuring an authentic, all-Hawaiian hula show.

Paired with an indulgent international buffet and a great view overlooking the beach, Na Lei Aloha is sure to become Waikiki Beach’s most popular luau. And better yet, it is ‘just around the corner’ from most resorts in Waikiki, and you won’t have to spend a fortune (or an hour in traffic) to get there!

Located in the Heart of Waikiki

The Na Lei Aloha Luau is held at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. The Hyatt Regency is located in central Waikiki Beach and within walking distance of many area resorts. The Luau is held on the third-floor rooftop terrace of the Diamond Head Tower. The outdoor terrace looks out over Kuhio Beach. There’s also a spectacular view of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean as the evening unfolds.

Pre-Show Activities at Na Lei Aloha Luau

The entertainment begins as soon as you enter the luau. Guests receive a welcome lei and a free drink upon arrival. Then, musicians, artisans, and cast members wander amongst the audience before the show starts. You may receive a tableside serenade, enjoy a quick hula lesson, or learn how to make a Hawaiian lei. Or, you may simply relax and enjoy the stunning view and live Hawaiian music until it is showtime.

Hawaiian Luau Feast

The luau feast is anything but your average luau buffet. Before the show, all guests who purchase the dinner option will dine at Waikiki’s premier buffet restaurant, The Buffet at Hyatt. This carefully curated buffet features over 100 dishes and locally sourced ingredients. This includes many traditional Hawaiian dishes like Kalua pork, poke, lomi lomi salmon, lau lau, and haupia.

The buffet also features many Japanese and Korean-inspired dishes, complete with Teppan and Bachan stations. Indulge in fresh seafood, crab legs, sushi, prime rib, Korean BBQ, and so much more. The full dinner menu is listed below.

Na Lei Aloha’s ‘Show Only’ Option

Na Lei Aloha Luau is the only area luau that offers a ‘show only’ option for $119 per adult ticket. ‘Show only’ packages include a lei and a welcome drink, in addition to the evening performance.

Additionally, ‘show only’ guests aren’t required to check in until 6:30 pm. The late start also makes this option a great alternative for those who have afternoon excursions. Or for anyone who may be concerned about running late.

Evening Performance

Na Lei Aloha Luau’s evening performance is a spectacular show that uses live music and hula to tell the story of lei making in Hawaii. In the Hawaiian tradition, the lei is much more than a simple token of aloha, yet visitors to the islands rarely learn about the true meaning behind lei making in Hawaii. At Na Lei Aloha Luau, guests will learn about the history and cultural significance of lei making, all in one captivating musical performance.

Unlike many luau shows that feature a review of the different Polynesian islands and their distinct styles of dance, music, dress, etc., Na Lei Aloha is all Hawaiian. It is an authentic Hawaiian hula show from the music selections to the styles of dancing. Therefore, this show does not feature a Samoan fire-knife performance, New Zealand haka, or any of the other forms of Polynesian culture that are usually present at luau shows. Instead, Na Lei Aloha showcases the rich tapestry of sounds and movement from the Hawaiian Islands exclusively.

Getting There

First, be aware that there are three Hyatt hotels in Waikiki Beach: the Hyatt Regency, the Hyatt Place, and the Hyatt Centric. The Hyatt Regency is closest to the beach, so if you don’t see the ocean, you’re in the wrong spot! The other Hyatt hotels are only a few blocks away, so it is easy to get them confused.

Walk: The Hyatt Regency is located in the center of Waikiki Beach, which is about three miles in length. The Hyatt Regency is walkable from most resorts in Waikiki. It is located on Kalakaua Avenue, which is the main drag in Waikiki, full of shops and restaurants, and always buzzing with activity in the evenings. It is well-lit, full of pedestrians, and a safe area to walk at night.

Ride: If your accommodation is too far to walk, taxis, Lyfts, and Ubers are abundant, fast, and reasonably priced. The BUS and most Waikiki Trolley routes also stop across the street from the Hyatt Regency, at the Duke Kahanamoku statue. However, if you take the trolley, you will need to find other transportation for your ride home as the last pickup is usually around 8 pm.

Drive: If you choose to drive yourself, there is a parking structure at the Hyatt Regency. Free four-hour self-parking is included with the luau (after validation). There is also valet parking available (for up to four hours) for $12.
